CINCINNATI–Justin Hunter’s run with the Dolphins is over after four weeks. The team released him today after two straight weeks of being inactive.

Hunter, 25, played in the season opener at Seattle before sitting out against New England and Cleveland.

More important than his departure is the fact that it opens a roster spot for the Dolphins at a time when they are hobbled at several positions. Miami is down multiple linebackers and offensive linemen going into Thursday’s game at Cincinnati and could sign one in time to suit up against the Bengals.

One logical candidate is Jamil Douglas, an offensive guard from the practice squad.
