DAVIE–The chances of Dolphins center Mike Pouncey returning this season continue to look bleak. Adam Gase had no hesitation this afternoon ruling him out for the entire week of practice and Saturday’s game at the Jets.
Pouncey missed the first four games of the season after having hip surgery and has been out the last five after the injury flared up again.
Anthony Steen has been starting in his place with mixed results. There were two snafus on center-quarterback exchanges in Sunday’s win over Arizona, and Steen has been playing through a serious ankle injury and a neck problem.
Miami hasn’t had its intended starting o-line since the San Diego game Nov. 13. Branden Albert (wrist) and Pouncey both went down that week, and Laremy Tunsil was out with a shoulder injury.
The Dolphins go forward with Albert and Tunsil still not fully healthy, Steen banged up, right guard Jermon Bushrod fighting a shoulder issue and right tackle Ja’Wuan James relatively fine.
