Highlights of Dolphins coach Adam Gase’s huddle with the media Sunday:

  • Gase on why Dolphins are No. 2 in NFL in second-half and OT point differential: A bit has to do with staff making halftime adjustments. Playing four quarters. Guys in great shape, don’t let bad things affect them.
  • On Tony Lippett: He’s done a great job staying with what he’s coached to do. He’s had some rough games, fought through that adversity and stuck with it. Every week he’s gotten a little bit better. His ball skills are unique for a corner.
  • On Kraig Urbik at center: He did a good job, but Anthony Steen did a good job in games when he was in, too.
  • Says team has to keep working on fits in the run defense. Says players have to do better job consistently tackling with the first hit. Says Dolphins may have set record yesterday for most guys playing with hand casts.
  • Says TE Dion Sims “lucked out” some, wasn’t primary receiver on at least one of those TDs.
  • Says he’s most pleased with players sticking with “the process.” Special teams. Defense getting turnovers. Xavien Howard stepping in and playing well right away.
  • On Cam Wake: In my head, I almost feel like he’s got like 30 sacks. The guy is unbelievable. He finds a way to make huge plays in critical situations in a game.
  • On challenge system: Says they have discussions between assistants Darren Rizzi and Marwan Maalouf. Says can get dicey when he’s trying to call plays and decide whether a challenge is necessary. Those guys do great job keeping me on track during games. (He didn’t want to address whether coaches should get more than three challenges, even if they win all of ’em.)
  • Asked if he even takes a moment to enjoy this ride: Says we know what his answer would be and to go into it would be “wasting paper” and “wasting internet.” (So we won’t waste megabytes by elaborating.)
