How has this team changed since last time you played Buffalo?
I think we understand our focus and what we need to do to win games and that was at the very beginning of it when we were going against them. And so as you grow as teams and weeks go by, if you’re doing well, you’re finding other ways to win and figuring out your weaknesses and making sure that you’re not allowing them to continue to be weaknesses, more or less.
LeSean McCoy is dangerous and you’ve struggled vs. run, so how do you address that?
Simple. Tackle. He’s an elusive back and he’s a guy that’s very hard to get down but we’ve got to find ways to tackle and really just go from there.
So that’s the issue, the tackling?
It’s getting him down, which is a form of tackling.
Tonight, Pro Bowl selections come out. What would it mean to you, in light of getting passed over in 2015? Would it be extra special?
It’s always an honor to be seen as a Pro Bowler from your peers and the fans as well as the coaches. So if I’m lucky enough to be a part of it, I’ll take it and go from there.
A lot of defensive linemen rush upfield on third-and-longs. How did you snuff out the screens vs. Jets?
I think at the end of the day you watch film and you understand what teams want to do in certain down and distance. When they have telling things that they want to do, you recognize that and you anticipate it but at the same time you play what you see.
Possible the Jets game was best that you and Cam Wake have played as a tandem?
I think this is really the only true year we’ve had an opportunity to play all game together and we haven’t finished the season. But he was only available through six games last year with obviously having an unfortunate incident. I believe that was Week 6. So at the end of the day, Cam is very productive. I pride myself on being very productive and the defensive line realizes we’re resources and we’ve got to be productive no matter what.
Was there ever time, when 6-10 last year or 1-4, you wondered if you’d win here?
It just comes down to hard work and understanding you’ve got to get the right people, the right schemes and the right understanding of how to win games. I think you create a culture of that. And we’ve done that at the beginning of this year and it took a little bit of time for it to kick in, but it’s obviously kicked in and we’ve just got to continue to build off of that.
