What Dolphins coach Adam Gase said after Thursday’s practice leading into Saturday’s game at Buffalo:

  • On CB Byron Maxwell: Normally I feel good about a player being able to play without practicing but I’m not going to put him out there unless he’s feeling really good.
  • On the three young CBs (Bobby McCain, Xavien Howard, Tony Lippett): No issues with communication. I’m confident they’re on the same page.
  • WR Jarvis Landry’s yards per catching going up a bit: We’ve done a few things different. He’s created some explosive plays on his own. A lot is his determination to not be tackled.
  • Team is probably as healthy as you can ask for this late in the season.
  • On mindset of team, possibly on brink of qualifying for playoffs: I see guys focused on the challenge they have Saturday. It’s place that’s tough to win, against team looking to beat us. They’re well-coached, playing extremely hard and well right now. This is going to be one of those games where it’s probably going to come down to whoever has the ball last. I wouldn’t expect anything less for a division game this late in the year.
  • On why so few CBs shadow a receiver in the league: A lot of guys say they can do it but it’s not the easiest thing to do. A lot of guys are used to just playing on the right or left. Getting tossed into the slot suddenly can cause a lot of problems.
