What coach Adam Gase said Monday:
- Says “we need to do everything we can to make sure we’re 1-0 this week” (as opposed to resting guys).
- Talked to Steve Ross on Sunday night. Says they have opportunity to play in playoffs but “main focus” is on Pats.
- Waiting for MRI results on Isa Abdul-Quddus.
- Jay Ajayi was “banged up” but thinks he’ll be OK.
- No update on Ryan Tannehill just yet.
- On Sunday: It’s team we lost to earlier in season and we have to bring our A game.
- Says “this is really more about players” who showed what they did after they were 1-4. Says they ignored “outside noise.”
- Says players are focused on this week, “they know exactly who we’re playing. If you look past them, they will embarrass you.”
- From 1-4 to now, Gase says doesn’t think big difference in way they call games other than leaning on Ajayi. On defense, “we shifted some guys around, we had to adjust a lot.” Says “it doesn’t always work out the way you want it, but they made plays.”
- Regarding sideline incident with assistant head coach Darren Rizzi getting head-butted by Bills player: “I didn’t really make a big deal about it. That’s football. Sometimes things like that happen.”
- Byron Maxwell: We’ll see how he progresses throughout the week.
- On head of football operations Mike Tannenbaum: Direction we started with was good mind-set. GM Chris Grier did good job handling draft. Communication has been outstanding. Few days we’re not together at some point during the day.
- Credits fans with “the volume” generated in Hard Rock Stadium now. Says there is “different juice” on sidelines at home.
- On his expectations going into this season: This is kind of what we expected. That’s how you think as a coach. You don’t think you’re going to have a subpar year.
