MIAMI GARDENS–The Dolphins wrap up the regular season today at home against New England, and playoff seeding is on the line.
Here’s who Miami won’t have as it looks to move up to the No. 5 seed in the AFC. The inactives:
QB Ryan Tannehill (knee)
TE Thomas Duarte
TE Dominique Jones
WR Leonte Carroo
DE Mario Williams
LB Jelani Jenkins (knee)
CB Byron Maxwell (ankle)
That means running back Jay Ajayi is a go. Ajayi injured his shoulder in last weekend’s game at Buffalo, but is healthy enough to today. Left tackle Branden Albert (wrist) was another option for coach Adam Gase to rest if he saw fit, but Albert is starting. One concern with sitting him was that it’d leave Matt Moore vulnerable.
Williams has been listed on the injury report with an ankle issue for weeks, but has played through it. He was a full participant in practices all week.
Williams is one of the 10 highest-paid players on the roster at $6.5 million. He finishes the regular season with a career-low 1.5 sacks.
The starting safeties will be Michael Thomas and Bacarri Rambo.
Carroo played every game until last weekend, when Rashawn Scott got the call of ahead of him. Scott held steady this week.
