DAVIE–It looks like the Dolphins will get linebacker Jelani Jenkins back in the rotation for Sunday’s playoff game at Pittsburgh.
Jenkins, who has battled a variety of injuries this season, practiced today after being inactive the past two games due to knee trouble. He felt good in the full-pads practice this afternoon and was optimistic about playing.
“It was fun for me since I haven’t played in a while,” he said. “I got to get some thumping in and get used to hitting again and running again.”
Jenkins has been out seven games total this season. The Dolphins have been hurting at linebacker all year, with Koa Misi going on Injured Reserve after three games and Kiko Alonso playing through injuries since early December.
Jenkins’ last game was Dec. 17 at the Jets and he’s moving better now than he was then.
“I feel pretty good,” he said. “We’ll keep taking it day-by-day, though… I feel better than I did for the Jets game. It’s gonna keep getting better every day, so we’ll see how it goes.”
In nine games (seven starts), Jenkins had 29 tackles during the regular season.
