The NFL and Jarvis Landry have different definitions of fun.
Landry celebrated his gritty touchdown against the Patriots last week by slamming his helmet to the ground and grabbing his crotch. The league’s not big on either of those demonstrations and fined him $24,309 for each. That’s nearly 50 grand for a touchdown celebration.
Here’s the play, including the helmet throw:
Landry was asked after the game if his reaction after the touchdown was letting out some pent-up frustration and answered, “It wasn’t nothing.”
He was flagged at the time for the helmet move because, as Fox’s Mike Pereira explained, he was not in the Dolphins’ team area when he removed his helmet and it is against the rules for a player to throw his helmet at any time.
