2017 NFL Draft: Miami Dolphins awarded three compensatory picks

2017_nfl_draftThe Miami Dolphins put a dent into this year’s draft class with past trades, but the franchise managed to restock a bit today with the addition of three compensatory picks.

On top of the picks they were already slotted for, the NFL gave them one in the third round and two in the fifth. That gives Miami eight total selections.

The third-rounder is especially valuable because it was the first awarded. Miami gained the 97th overall choice.

Without the extra picks, which are given for free-agency losses, the Dolphins would’ve had one selection over Rounds 3, 4 and 5.

Here’s an updated look at the team’s collection of picks:

1st round: 22nd overall

2nd round: 54th overall (22nd in round)

3rd round: 97th overall (33rd in round)

4th round: None

5th round: 148th overall (22nd in round), 180th (35th), 186th (41st)

6th round: 180th overall (22nd in round)

7th round: 211th overall (22nd in round)
