Here’s a weird one.
Looking at the best available linebackers in free agency, Buffalo’s Zach Brown would be a logical target for the Dolphins. If they pursue him, though, they’re doing so with the plan of lining him up next to Kiko Alonso. Oddly, Brown has some inexplicable issue with Alonso.
During Miami’s playoff game at Pittsburgh, when Alonso played with a club over his broken right thumb, Brown went on Twitter and blasted him for being “soft.”
These two have no known history. Last year was Brown’s first with the Bills, so he missed Alonso’s 2013 and ’14 seasons in Buffalo. In college, they played on opposite sides of the country with Alonso at Oregon and Brown at South Carolina. The two Miami-Buffalo games last season were the first times these two were ever on a football field together.
Alonso ignored Brown’s comment at the time, calling it “strange,” but that might be the first thing Brown needs to clear up if he’s interested in joining the Dolphins.
