The Miami Dolphins are signing tight end Anthony Fasano, according to a report from ESPN.

Fasano will likely be the backup tight end to Julius Thomas (if Thomas is healthy), with MarQueis Gray as the third tight end.

Dion Sims is reportedly expected to sign with the Chicago Bears.

Fasano had 23 touchdown catches in five seasons with Miami, including 76 starts.

Fasano has had 11 touchdown catches in four seasons at Kansas City and Tennessee, including 42 starts.

At 6-feet-4, 255 pounds, Fasano is a capable blocker, which will be needed if Sims departs.

Fasano was rated as the 14th-best tight end in the NFL by Pro Football Focus, rated as the NFL’s best run-blocking tight end.

Sims was rated 41st in run blocking, right ahead of Julius Thomas.

Fasano, 32, is an 11-year veteran. He earned $3.2 million in 2016.
