DAVIE–Lawrence Timmons, who signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins in March, has done a lot of good things in his long career. Unfortunately for him, none of those accomplishments are as prominent as the bad day he had against Miami last season while playing for the Steelers.
In a mid-October game that featured all of South Florida’s trademark heat and humidity, Timmons wasn’t ready for the conditions. CBS’ cameras showed him vomiting in the end zone, and that image made the rounds on Twitter.
“It’s the story of my life,” he said after Miami opened Organized Team Activities today. “I get it everywhere. ‘So you’re that guy that was throwing up in the end zone?’ It comes with the territory. You win some, you lose some. You just make fun of it and enjoy it.”
Timmons played every defensive snap for the Steelers that afternoon and had five tackles in a 30-15 loss. That was the day Jay Ajayi announced himself with a 204-yard rushing performance.
After 10 seasons with Pittsburgh, Timmons felt strange dressing up in aqua and orange today. That change, however, isn’t nearly as important as getting past the heat issue that bothered him last fall. He dealt with cramping after today’s session.
“I’m getting adjusted to it now,” he said.
