UFC President Dana White is talking up the possibility of Conor McGregor fighting Floyd Mayweather.
Dolphins linebacker Kiko Alonso would settle for McGregor and Mayweather simply talking.
“I’d pay to see the press conference,” Alonso said.
Alonso was asked about it during OTAs because he’s a fight fan. White originally downplayed the idea of such a clash but now thinks there’s a good chance it’ll happen.
“A boxing match?” Alonso said. “C’mon, man.” That’s Alonso’s way of saying McGregor would have no shot under boxing rules, which is what’s being proposed.
“McGregor is not going to beat any boxer,” Alonso said. “He’s not beating (Manny) Pacquiao, obviously. He’s not beating any of those guys.”
Would McGregor be able to go the distance?
“I think the way Mayweather fights now, he doesn’t really smell blood like he used to,” Alonso said. “ … I think it’ll probably just be a decision. It’ll be a shutout, 12 rounds to zero. He’s probably start doing some Sugar Ray stuff, like swinging his arms around.”
