DAVIE–The Dolphins finished minicamp with a relatively light practice this morning, and now the players have a five-week break before training camp gets started.
Before they go, here are coach Adam Gase’s latest updates:
— His final instructions to the players were “keep your bodies right” and to stay on their training programs. “We need to start fast in training camp and not waste time getting guys in shape,” Gase said.
— Gase was very encouraged, particularly by the receivers, seeing players learn from seeing teammates’ mistakes in drills.
— Mike Pouncey missed the last four weeks of practice because of ongoing hip issues.
“He’s really improving,” Gase said. “We feel like we’re on a really good track right now. We’ll wait until the next doctor visit to see what our next step will be. He’s done a good job of not trying to push ahead and say, ‘Hey, I’m a fast healer and I’m tough.’ We need him healed. That’s really what it is is time. He wants to get out there, but we need him for the long term.”
— Left tackle Laremy Tunsil didn’t practice today, but Gase doesn’t see any major issues injury-wise. He should be fine for training camp.
