DAVIE–The Dolphins are two days into training camp and will finally put pads on tomorrow. Heading into the contact portion of schedule, here are some updates from coach Adam Gase:

— Rookie cornerback Cordrea Tankersley left practice today, but is doing fine now. There was no injury; it was more an issue of hydration and exhaustion. “He got a little overheated, so our guys pulled him in,” Gase said.

— The Dolphins are undecided about full tackling. They have a scrimmage next Saturday, but Gase is hesitant about letting some of his stars on the defeniv

— Gase defers to his veterans on some of the teaching aspects of training camp, particularly on the defensive line. When the Dolphins do extra individual work after practice, it’s often those players running the drills rather than the coaches.

— A day after watching the offense run all over, the Dolphins’ defense looks much better today. “The whole defensive line made a lot of plays,” Gase said. “It was a frustrating day for the offense.”

— Jakeem Grant’s had a strong offseason. Grant is looking to further cement himself as the team’s best return man, but also pushing for a role in the offense. He’s worked inside and outside at receiver the first two days.

“He’s doing extremely well on both,” Gase said. “He really takes a lot of pride on special teams. I could tell the couple of drops he had last year really bothered him. On offense, he’s really making a huge jump for us. We just want to put him in position to make plays.”

— Gase says the offensive line is still a fluid situation. For the first two days, the team has had Ted Larsen at left guard and Kraig Urbik at center in addition to the usual starters.
