What’s up with those new video boards at Miami Dolphins practice?

DAVIE — Adam Gase doesn’t mind if his players take a step back and watch a little TV during training camp.

Steve Ross even bought three extra large flat screens for their viewing pleasure.

No, players are not watching Game of Thrones out there. Game of Throws is more like it, because those monitors alternate between showing live action and instant replays to assist players and coaches in evaluating what’s going right and what’s going wrong on the fly.

“Now, you don’t have to wait till you get back inside,” defensive back Michael Thomas said. “You can just take a quick look over there to your right or to your left and see what happened. So it’s pretty cool.”

Gase said the Dolphins cooked up the idea in the spring, got together with 8K Solutions, a sports technology firm based in Titusville, and have been pleased with the early returns.

“We started doing it in the spring and our guys really liked it,” Gase said. They liked it to the point that “they started asking me questions,” he said.

“They were like ‘Hey, can we get this period up?’ I’m like ‘I’m calling plays right now. I’m really not worried about it.’ But the guys really liking, that helps us a lot. It’s just another tool for us to almost start watching film before we get in the meeting room.”
