The Dolphins have one of the toughest schedules in the NFL this year, but one upside for them is new quarterback Jay Cutler has done well against this group.

In his 12-year career, Cutler is 27-21 as a starter against the 13 opponents Miami faces this season. That includes a 4-1 mark (he posted a 79.3 passer rating in those games) against Tampa Bay, which comes to down for the season opener.

He’s been excellent throughout his career against the Falcons (3-1 record, 96.3 passer rating), Chiefs (4-1, 94.5) and Jets (3-0, 97.1). He’s also 2-0 with a 137.6 rating against the Titans.

On the flipside, he’s been a wreck against the team Miami’s always chasing in the AFC East: New England. Cutler is winless in three starts versus the Patriots, completing 59.8 percent of his passes for 547 yards and throwing four touchdowns against five interceptions.

He also hasn’t beaten the Ravens or his former team, Denver, though he’s only had one shot at each of those teams. Here’s Cutler’s record and passer rating against this year’s Miami opponents:

Tampa Bay: 4-1, 79.3
Los Angeles Chargers: 3-4, 84.7
New York Jets: 3-0, 97.1
New Orleans: 1-3, 84.8
Tennessee: 2-0, 137.6
Atlanta: 3-1, 96.3
Baltimore: 0-1, 7.9
Oakland: 3-2, 77.2
Carolina: 2-2, 79.2
New England: 0-3, 70.5
Denver: 0-1, 70.4
Buffalo: 2-2, 83.4
Kansas City: 4-1, 94.5
