MIAMI GARDENS — Center Mike Pouncey would have loved to play against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, but coach Adam Gase is opting to hold him out as a precaution as he returns from a hip injury, according to a league source.

Among the other Miami Dolphins who were unable to play due to injury on Thursday: guard Ted Larsen (bicep), running back Kenyan Drake (concussion) and wide receiver Leonte Carroo (hamstring).

Running back Jay Ajayi (concussion) and offensive tackle Ja’Wuan James (shoulder) were not listed in pregame notes as not expected to play.

In fact, Ajayi is listed as starter.

Defensively, the Dolphins went without linebacker Raekwon McMillan (knee), safety Nate Allen (groin) and linebacker Neville Hewitt (shoulder), defensive back Walt Aikens (back) and defensive end Andre Branch (unknown).
