PHILADELPHIA—Coming off a rough season defensively, the Dolphins haven’t done much this preseason to indicate things have changed. This week was particularly rough, with the Eagles shredding them in two joint practices and putting up 38 points in Thursday’s preseason game.

Philadelphia had 166 yards, nine first downs and 14 points at the end of the first quarter, and was up to 263, 14 and 28 by halftime.

Ndamukong Suh says this isn’t the time to be totally pleased about where Miami’s defense stands, but he’s confident that it’s on the right track.

“I think we’re in a good place, but at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter where we think we’re at,” he said. “It’s about being able to go out there and perform in Week 1. .As much as you think you’re in a good place or not, you can’t be comfortable and can’t be complacent. We have to go back to work.”

Suh said there were “a lot of good things that we did” in the practices this week and in Thursday’s game.

As for him, personally, Suh says he’s ready to play a full game.

“I’m in good shape,” he said. “At the end of the day, it’s just going to come down to being ready for Tampa Bay (in the opener). I think there’s no real way to tell until you actually get into it. I think mentally and physically, I’m there, but you’re not going to really find out until you get into a true game.”
