Neville Hewitt had an excellent game against the Buffalo Bills last season. He’s being waived.
The Miami Dolphins are waiving linebacker Neville Hewitt, according to a league source.
Hewitt has missed the preseason due to a shoulder injury.
Hewitt played in 16 games for the Dolphins last season, with five starts, recording 57 tackles.
The Dolphins don’t have great depth at linebacker and at one point, it seemed as if Hewitt was a part of their future.
A converted safety, Hewitt has excellent speed and is a standout on special teams.
This is an indication that undrafted rookie Chase Allen and veteran Trevor Reilly may have a good chance to make the original 53-man roster, which must be finalized by 4 p.m. today.
