DAVIE—To say the recent defeats by the Jets and Saints sting the Dolphins would be an understatement. They’re furious.

It’s been an angry atmosphere in the facility since Sunday’s 20-0 loss to New Orleans, and center Mike Pouncey is encouraged by it.

“Guys are mad,” he said after practice today. “Anytime you lose a football game, if you’re not mad, something’s wrong. That shows you have a really good football team—guys that really care—when they come in and they’re pissed off about a loss.

“That’s pretty much been the attitude this week. Guys are very disappointed in how we played last week, especially on the offensive side of the ball, and the defense’s been playing really well these past couple weeks. We’ve gotta do a better job keeping them off the field and stop going three-and-out, keeping those guys fresh so in the fourth quarter they can win us some football games.”

The frustration originated with Adam Gase calling the team’s offense “garbage” after the Jets game and has continued. Gase took a step further today by threatening that players need to “get the job done or we’ll find somebody that can.”

The anger that Pouncey described contributed to this being one of the Dolphins feistier practices of the season. He said there was an aggressive attitude on the field, which led to some minor skirmishes.

“Guys are pissed, man,” he said. “There was fights today at practice. Yeah, guys are mad we didn’t play good this past weekend. We’ll do a better job of that this week.”
