What Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Thursday before Jets
DAVIE — Here is some of what Adam Gase said Thursday:
• He felt Vance Joseph was only going to be there a year. So Matt Burke was always going to be the next DC.
• Burke did a nice job of scaling back the defense this season. Last season was trial-by-error.
• Gase is not mentioning the last Jets game. Normal scouting stuff. Have moved on from that.
• Lawrence Timmons is a really, really good player. When he takes a chance, the Dolphins trust him.
• The Dolphins are going to be smart with what sounds like a not-too-serious Andre Branch knee injury. He waits to see if it’s calmed down or is worse.
• Xavien Howard is playing extremely well, extremely confident. They are aggressive. They mix it up in the run game.
• Howard is day-to-day with an ankle.
• It’s right there on tape how they got smashed by the Jets last game. Sometimes we have to get downhill better.
