DAVIE—Much like Beyoncé’s release of Lemonade, the Dolphins’ choreography for an upcoming touchdown celebration is a highly protected secret. They won’t allow even a whisper of their plans to leak, but rest assured something is in the works.
“Oh, it’s coming,” Jarvis Landry promised. “It’s coming.”
He declined to say whether it will be an individual performance by him or more of an ensemble piece.
“I can’t give you all the ideas,” he said. “If I give it to you now, then what you got to look forward to?”
Touchdown celebrations have always been a prevalent topic among NFL players, but it’s heated up recently with the Lions, Saints, Steelers and other teams unveiling elaborate routines.
This is the first season under the new celebration rules, which the league announced in May as a gesture toward the players to allow more “spontaneous displays of emotion.”
Miami hasn’t had a ton of opportunities to display its creativity. The team is last in the NFL in points scored at 137, and 27 of those have come on field goals.
Landry said the Dolphins’ act will feature “a little bit of everything,” but refused to give any other hints.
“You just get your tickets to the show,” he said.
