DAVIE–The Dolphins have one game left, Sunday vs. Buffalo, and there are no stakes for them.
Miami was eliminated from playoff contention last week, though the Bills are still in the hunt if they win. Here are coach Adam Gase’s updates heading into the game:
–Wide receiver Leonte Carroo is going on Injured Reserve, ending his season a week early.
–Rookie defensive tackle Vincent Taylor is also on IR.
–Gase hasn’t spoken to Jay Cutler, Jermon Bushrod or any of the other older players about whether they intend to retire or keep playing.
–He didn’t give much clarity on how he plans to treat this game personnel-wise other than saying Cutler will start at quarterback. He did not commit to playing him the entire game.
–Gase said he won’t alter the game plan in order to get players certain milestones–for example, Jarvis Landry can set the franchise record for catches in a season and could lead the NFL in that category–because he thinks that doesn’t usually work. He said he tried to do that once and “it backfired.”
