10 Players Miami Dolphins passed on in 2018 NFL Draft

The Miami Dolphins filled some key needs at tight end and linebacker, and added one of the best players in the draft, who happens to play safety.

But are there some players Miami might well have been considering when they went another direction?

Of course. It’s not ideal that the Dolphins ended the last NFL Draft without a new defensive tackle or quarterback.

Who are some of the guys we may all be thinking about in three or four years?

Personally, I am wondering if Jerome Baker will outplay the three other players listed in his round below. I am also wondering if one of the three players listed below may have ended up playing a more significant role than the blocking tight end selected, Durham Smythe.

And yes, of course, Mike Gesicki may be compared to Dallas Goedert for the next decade.

Only time will tell. But here’s who the Fins passed on:

FIRST ROUND (Picking 11th, selected DB Minkah Fitpatrick, Alabama)

Vita Vea, DT, Washington (Drafted by Tampa Bay at #12)

•  Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech (Draft by Buffalo at #16)

SECOND ROUND (Picking 42nd, selected TE Mike Gesicki, Penn State)

•  Dallas Goedert, TE, South Dakota State (Drafted by Philadelphia at #49)

THIRD ROUND (Picking 73rd, selected LB Jerome Baker, Ohio State)

Mason Rudolph, QB, Oklahoma State (Drafted by Pittsburgh at #76)

• Malik Jefferson, LB, Texas (Drafted by Cincinnati at #78)

• Harrison Phillips, DT, Stanford (Drafted by Buffalo at #96)

• Kyle Lauletta, QB, Richmond (Drafted by NY Giants at #108)

FOURTH ROUND (Picking 123rd, selected TE Durham Smythe, Notre Dame and Picking 131st, selected RB Kalen Ballage, Arizona State)

• R.J. McIntosh, DT, Miami (Drafted by New York Giants at #139)

Mike White, QB, Western Kentucky (Drafted by Dallas at #171)

Luke Falk, QB, Washington State (Drafted by Tennessee #199)
