Chris Grier, the Dolphins director of college scouting, has officially been promoted to general manager.

He will work under Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum.

Grier has been in the Dolphins organization since 2000 and interviews for the Jets GM job a year ago.

Tannenbaum and Grier will meet with the media at 1 p.m.

Grier began his career with the Dolphins as a scout. He previously spent five seasons in New England’s personnel department.

His father, Bobby Grier, is a former vice president of player personnel for the Patriots.

While Grier will now head up the team’s personnel department and draft, but the final decisions ultimately rests with Tannenbaum.

It’s the same setup the Dolphins had when Bill Parcells was the team’s football czar and Jeff Ireland was the GM.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross said Sunday that Tannenbaum is eager to collaborate with the new coach and GM.
