ORLANDO—The Dolphins have been without possible starting defensive tackle Earl Mitchell the past two weeks, but coach Adam Gase isn’t concerned about his availability once the season begins. Mitchell will miss Thursday’s game against the Falcons because of a lingering calf injury, but could be back to full-go within a week.

Dolphins starters likely to play past halftime Thursday vs. Falcons

DAVIE–Everyone calls the third preseason game a dress rehearsal, and it sounds like Dolphins coach Adam Gase will treat Thursday’s exhibition with the Falcons as such.

Ideally, Gase would like to play his starters, including quarterback Ryan Tannehill, into the third quarter in order to give them a test run at implementing halftime adjustments.

DAVIE–It’s hard to imagine NFL players preoccupying themselves with preseason rankings and lists, but sometimes those are too irritating to simply ignore.

That’s how Dolphins receiver Jarvis Landry feels about landing No. 98 on NFL.com’s Top 100 Players, which was determined by player voting. Seventeen of the players ahead of him are wide receivers.

Dolphins’ tackling trouble, defensive miscues surprise Adam Gase

As he watched his defense get ripped for 433 yards, including 300 in the first half, Dolphins coach Adam Gase was startled by the number of missed tackles. Many of those came early in the game with the first-string defense on the field, and Dallas’ starting running back Alfred Morris picked up 85 yards and a touchdown on 13 carries.
