Lawrence Timmons isn’t sure which Miami Dolphins LB position he’ll play

Lawrence Timmons has been an inside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers in a 3-4 defense and it seems likely he will be an inside linebacker in the Miami Dolphins defense.

But perhaps out of respect to middle linebacker Kiko Alonso, who Timmons compared to the Steelers’ Ryan Shazier, the newest Dolphin did not want to say he is going to play in the middle.

“I don’t know yet,” Timmons said on Friday. “I just signed. So when we figure everything out. We’ll get it right.”

Timmons was asked how he would react if asked to play outside linebacker and he said: “I don’t know. I don’t know about that. I just signed here.”

Timmons should bring intensity, intimidation and a physical style of play. He said he was sold on the Dolphins because of the positive energy he got from the Dolphins’ coaches.

“I’m thinking I’m an older player so I can give them some veteran presence and leadership,” Timmons said. “This is very special. I’m in the NFL. Miami Dolphins. God is good.”

As for the conversion from 3-4 to 4-3?

“I’m a football player,” Timmons said. “I just see ball, get ball.”
