Miami Dolphins’ Jay Cutler: My arm? It doesn’t get sore.

DAVIE — It looked as though Jay Cutler could throw a football through the chest of a Miami Dolphins receiver at practice on Tuesday.

“You don’t have to worry about his arm strength,” Dolphins coach Adam Gase said Tuesday.

Cutler had said he’d only sort of thrown the ball around with his kids since shoulder surgery in December. He was cleared in March but sort of maybe threw a few passes at a Vanderbilt football camp.

Hard to say if the man can lead the Dolphins beyond 7, 8 or 9 victories in 2017, but clearly he still possesses his howitzer. His cannon. His big gun.

It’s released fast. It comes fast. It looks pretty.

Did the ball hurt when it hit your hands, Jarvis Landry?

“We didn’t hookup today,” Landry said with a smile. “But hopefully tomorrow we get a chance to hookup and I’ll give you a better analysis tomorrow.”

Who can get up off the couch and throw a football with the velocity that Cutler threw it with on Tuesday?

This was Uncle Rico stuff.

Yes, Cutler could have thrown a football over them mountains.

Yes, Cutler could throw a pigskin a quarter-mile.

Yes, Cutler went pro and is still a pro.

Cutler, 34, was asked to sit out a few reps as the Dolphins didn’t want to overwork him in his first day back.

There are sports scientists and trainers and all sorts of specialists who have helped devise a plan that will help Cutler ease back into, well, throwing a football.

As for any concern about Cutler’s arm getting tired?

Cutler seemed to swat that question away on Tuesday as Uncle Rico may have, as well.

“My arm,” Cutler declared after a hot, humid training camp practice on Tuesday. “It doesn’t get sore.”
