What Titans coach Mike Mularkey said Wednesday regarding his game Sunday against the Dolphins:

  • On QB Marcus Mariota: “He’s day to day.” Titans want to see what he can do today. “He’s a fast healer and hopefully we can get him back.”
  • Mularkey says he has “a ton” of confidence in Matt Cassel. “We’re going to be prepared for both of them (QBs).”
  • Mularkey, on his experience trying to prepare for opposition when unsure who will be other team’s QB: “You have to prepare for what their strengths are” of each guy.
  • On Dolphins’ offense: “Very similar situation to last year. We came off a Houston loss as well. We know what they’re capable of doing with their offense.”
  • On Jay Cutler vs. Ryan Tannehill: “They’re both pocket passers. They both have athletic ability to make a play out of the pocket. Jay’s won a lot of games. I don’t see a lot of difference in how we’re going to prepare for that.”
  • On the Titans’ success on the ground (No. 6 rushing offense in NFL): “I do think we make teams have a lot to prepare for. We’ve got receivers that block. It’s a group effort.”
  • On ex-Dolphins WR Rishard Matthews, now of the Titans: “He’s been playing well. Last year he was in the mix rotating with Andre Johnson. Once Andre retired, Rishard kind of took off.” Says Matthews has seen he can improve his numbers if he’s detailed in his work.
